What does EU cost ? 8Bn out of 689Bn spending - (in 2012)

The EU cost us a mere £8Bn out of £689Bn spending in 2011-2012. (just over 1%)
Not much considering how many projects you see springing up from EU funding.
Personally I have seen roads built, stations renovated etc etc. Apprenticeships sponsored, Wildlife areas fenced,  and that is just in my area. But there is probably lots going on you dont even realise receives EU funding - have a search to see what has gone on in your area.

This is useful from European Parliament explaining costs and benefits for UK and other countries :

The Telegraph explains well how the Budget works-

However all those other benefits are certainly not measured in this Net and Gross calculation. So, not included are profits from UK companies who can trade in the EU Single Market
We exported £220 Bn to the EU in goods adn services in 2015 (https://fullfact.org/europe/uk-eu-trade)  If these had to have a 10% WTO tariff then that would cost those firms £22,000,000,000 ie £22Bn !!!!  https://fullfact.org/europe/uk-eu-trade

And here is an excerpt from this year's tax returns courtesy of HMRC - can you see the small blue sliver for payments towards the EU ? For me that makes it well worth it - it gives us freedom to live and work in Europe - to be Europeans !
